New Delhi: The Congress has distributed photographs and a CD to allege that the BJP's Narendra Modi "is associated with a man accused of Hawala dealings" or money laundering.

In one of the  photographs, Mr Modi is seen at an public function on stage with a woman and a man that the Congress alleges is Afroz Phatta, who the party claims was caught last month by the Enforcement Directorate for a 700-crore rupee Hawala scam.

In other photographs distributed by the Congress, the man is seen with BJP leaders like spokesman Shahnawaz Hussain and Gujarat minister Anandiben Patel.

Randeep Surjewala alleged that the BJP website and the personal website of Mr Modi, the BJP's prime ministerial candidate, "proudly" display photographs of the man.

He has demanded to know whether "Mr Modi will agree to an independent probe" into the matter.

The Congress attack comes a day after the BJP released a video to target Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra on his alleged land deals.
